Hello,

Is there any way to show the Sum of Epic Points and Sum of story points in the versions page (of those epics and stories related to that fix version)

Also is there any way to add custom field in the version view, so that I can additional information about the release?

Your kind support will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Basil Paulose

When you say the version page, do you mean the pages where you can select a version and see the number in each status category?

As far as I know, this isn't customisable - but you have a few other options:

Version Report:

  • Locate this from your Board > Reports > Version Report
  • The report traces work complete against your release date - specifically, it shows a status report, listing complete vs incomplete issues
  • These issues have a summary at the top of total story points.
  • It does only count the one estimate value - so if you had Epics and Stories with story points, they'd all be in one of the two lists together

Custom Field:

  • Use a custom field to sum-up story points / epic points. This would be at an issue level but could be visualised on a dashboard or in search results
  • Check out apps which directly solve the problem such as sumUp for Jira, utilise maths Automation with Automation for Jira or use scripting such as with ScriptRunner

Jira Portfolio:

  • When utilising Jira Portfolio, it does provide in the scope view story point totals moving up the hierarchical stack.
  • You could use this to view the total size of all Stories below an Epic? Or all Epics below an Initiative? Perhaps build a plan based on just one release?

Let me know if any of these would work for you :)

Hello @Ste Wright ,

Thanks for your inputs.

The Versions page is the Releases page which displays the Release Versions with start date and end date with progress status.

I was not able to find anything like Board > Reports > Version Report. When I went to Boards page, there is a button to "Create Boards" (kanban/scrum). Not for reports. Am i missing something?

We are using Versions as Release Version with a start date and end date. And every release contains a bunch of epics that need to be tracked and closed in that release cycle. And again, epics will have one or more stories. So from a high-level view, we want to see all the releases/versions, total epics points, and story points which we are executing on every release.

Thanks
