Hi all, I have installed a demo version of Jira Software. however, the blue sidebar which I see in many manuals and instructional videos is entirely missing. Is this something which has been made obsolete in a recent version?

Hi Klass - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
The side navigation bar has been replaced across all of Jira Cloud with the new top navigation bar. This is a permanent change. You can read more about it here:
Thanks for your quick reply Milan, however this is a <subdomain>.atlassian.net cloud version which i'm currently evaluating, so it is a cloud edition i assume.

Ah ok. On the Cloud, I believe, in one of the recent releases, the sidebar now appears on the project page or board configurations while its removed how it originally used to appear.
Also, you can now switch to other apps by clicking on the top-left icon.
You can read more about it here:
At the end of June 2020, we completed the process of permanently replacing the old navigation experience. All Jira Cloud sites have now moved over to our improved navigation experience.

Hey Klass,
The blue sidebar is available in JIRA Cloud and not in server edition of JIRA Software.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Milan
