Simple explanation of how to upgrade Jira Software Server on Ubuntu (7.12 to 8.2)

Scott Moser July 25, 2019

I need to upgrade my Jira Server installation to address security vulnerability CVE-2019-11581.

Can someone provide simple, specific steps to accomplish this on Ubuntu?  I have already pulled and extracted the 8.2.4 files onto my Ubuntu box.

Thanks...

Hi Scott,

Please first read Oficial Atlassian documentation - Upgrading Jira applications and Jira 8.3.x platform upgrade notes.

Process Jira upgrade as simple:

1) Please backup Jira DB (or perform Backup System Jira)

2) Backup Jira Install folder (/conf/server.xml, /bin/setenv.sh)

3) Download new Jira from Atlassian page

4) Check update from plugins

5) Disable all plugins

6) Stop Jira

7) Perform upgrade (run new Jira file), manual for Linux installer

8) Start Jira and update all plugins and Enable

9) Check Jira is OK
