Smartsheet annoying bug. Disable add-on per project?

Hello,

A team in the org has requested the Smartsheet for Jira add-on.

Problem 1 - Can't hide per project? Now we all have to have it (but not use it) in our projects too, boo hoo!

Problem 2 - Has annoying bug whereby the "Search, select or paste link here..." text box, steals the focus. So all the Jira shortcut keys e.g. 'm' for comment result in an actual 'm' being captured into Smartsheet's text box... instead of invoking the Jira shortcut. To invoke shortcut, I first need to click out of the text box and this defeats the point of having shortcuts in the first place.

Smartsheet has a 'Hide' option but I have clicked it many times and it doesn't work.

I am not a Jira admin and have logged a request to our admins to either hide or remove.

Beyond that, this add-on should not steal the focus from Jira.

Marketplace Apps have a wide latitude in how they present themselves in Jira.

I completely understand the frustration you're outlining. It's unfair that you have to weigh the business value of adding a new App to your instance against the problematic UI/UX impact that the App will apparently have on ALL projects in your instance.

To be realistic, I wouldn't expect movement on the above Jira improvement any time soon. So I would also suggest you reach out to the App vendor support and give them a piece of your mind. I haven't used that App, but stealing the UI focus on-load seems like pretty bad behavior. Letting them know they'll probably not get your business because of it might help motivate them to pay some attention to this issue.

I'd give you the link to the App support page, but I'm not sure which Smartsheet App you mean (there are at least 2 for Jira in the Marketplace). Use the "Support" link in the Marketplace when viewing the App. "Submit a Support Request" might not work if you haven't purchased, but I'd try that first. Else there should be a link to email the vendor.

Okay well - I'm still trying my internal IT dept. to see if they can disable for my project.

I will also find Smartsheet support and raise it with them directly.

Let's see who is faster - IT dept. vs. Product Backlog :D
