I have completed the sprint 1, the tasks from sprint 1 automatically moved to sprint 3 which is not started and now cannot move those tasks to Sprint 1 and when clicked on Sprint 1, its throwing a 404 or Sprint not found error

Hi Sirisha - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Issues/Work Items in a Sprint are not considered closed unless they are in the far right hand column (last column) of the Scrum board. This is true regardless of the status. You should also ensure that the workflow is setting the Resolution field value when the issue moves to the Done category status.

This will keep you from getting into trouble in the future. But you should not close Sprints if it is telling you that some issues/work items will be moved to the next Sprint but you don't want that to happen with those items.

Hi @Sirisha Pesala

  • Once a sprint is completed, it's considered "closed" and immutable.

  • If your issues weren’t completed, Jira moves them automatically to the next open sprint (which is Sprint 3 in your case).

  • You cannot move issues back into a completed sprint from the backlog or other sprints.

  •  Jira where closed sprints no longer allow interaction like dragging issues back into them — and they can even become inaccessible via the UI or API, throwing errors like 404 or Sprint not found.
