Sprint report not showing correct status for Items Removed From Sprint

We have a custom done status of 'Abandoned' to resolve items that we will not be moving forward/completing for any reason (rather than deleting the items). When we put an item into this status and then remove it from a sprint, the sprint report shows the item as an Issue Removed From Sprint (correctly) but does not show the item as being in Abandoned status, but rather Backlog status. 

Our workflow is: 

When removing items from the sprint in all the other statuses show as the accurate status (something in Ready shows as Ready, WIP in WIP, Done in Done). For whatever reason only Abandoned shows incorrectly on the report. Any idea what is causing this and what can be done to get Abandoned to reflect appropriately?

Hi Matthew,

First, why do you have a transition from Abandoned to Backlog? Abandoned is a Done status category and the issue should end there. Remove that transition and your problem will be solved.  :-)

Second, I suspect that there might be some type of automation that is auto transitioning the issue from Abandoned to the Backlog status. If you look in the history or transitions activity for the issue, what is listed there as far as the transitions that happened and by whom?
