Is it possible to make it so that the design of issues in one project, can be transferred globally, so that we can apply the same to all existing projects as well as future created projects?
Example:
I created a project, set it up with some global custom fields and then created to issue screen so it looks like this:
Now I want to make it so that the same thing shows up for every other project.
But what I have seen it doesn't seem possible? I can scoured the settings for work types, schemes, screens, project settings and so on. But nothing there really gives me an idea here.
This is what another project in our workspace looks like for reference:
It doesn't have the same custom fields as the other one.
Is this possible, and how would one go about doing this?
Hi Jimmy,
To some extent, that is certainly possible. If you want to dive into it yourself, I would recommend following some of the Atlassian Learning content that is available here:
Basically, can you configure other projects to use the same 'Issue Type Screen Scheme'. This would ensure that the configuration of the screens are identical. However, keep in mind that it's possible for anyone that is a Project Administrator to edit the issue layout. This is an option to, within the limits of the fields configured in the screen, to move them around the screen or hide them within one project. So, if you really need the screens to be 100% identical and remain so, you need to either carefully instruct the project admins not to use the layout configuration, or do the configurations yourself.
For new projects, you can opt to create them with 'shared configuration'. After selecting one of the templates, and clicking through the different setup steps, at the final step you can give the new project a name, key and select 'Share settings with an existing project', to copy most of the configuration (like the screens, workflows, issue types etcetera) to the new project.
Please do reach out for any follow-up questions, issues or concerns. If possible, share screenshots so we can more adequately help you further!
