Start Bamboo plan from Jira

I know it is possible to start Bamboo plans from Jira, but can that also be done for a deployment project? We create the deployment artifacts using a Bamboo Plan and deploy them to the various environments using a Bamboo Deployment Project. Can that be done from inside Jira?

Also the Bamboo gadgets appear to be limited to Plans only.
