Start Time? is it available

Damian Clark April 12, 2022

Hello Everyone

I have an extensive cutover plan and i want to use JIRA for tracking this plan. I have a detailed plan down to every 15minutes what activities are planned. Is it possible to have date and time in each task without using a custom field? I cant sort the activities with a custom field it seems? Maybe its the type of project im using??

Many thanks

Damian

Hi @Damian Clark , welcome to the Atlassian Community!

When talking about date and time, you would need a start and end time, right?

This would mean 2 custom fields as the system fields only show the date.

Why would you like to avoid the creation of a custom field?

Hi @Dave Mathijs . Thanks for your response. With a custom field i am unable to add it to the view? and then i am unable to sort by start date AND the custom field? or am i?

Many thanks

When creating a custom field, you give the field a name and choose the type (Date/Time) and then add it to all the necessary screens.

Depending on you configuration of screens, it is either added to a default issue screen or on create/edit/view screen.

When creating an issue search in Jira, saving it as a filter and adding this filter to the filter results gadget of a dashboard, you should be able to sort it.
