I've just discovered the 'improvement' of the Status button being moved from the right hand panel to the 'body' of the work item.
As a tester, it used to be a simple action to change the status AND assignee in one go as I'd included 'assignee' in my pinned fields, so they both appeared at the top of the workitem, in generally the same location.
The repositioning of the status field to sit below the workitem heading is absolutely poor UX as you now have to scroll all the way back up to the top of the workitem and look on the opposite side from where you instinctively look for all the 'attributes' of the workitem.
If it's not possible to shift the "Status" field back to its original location, is it at least possible to make it a 'pin-able' field so it can be included in the 'My pinned fields' section.
For all the promotion Atlassian do about working to make their systems better, building community etc, I'm really astonished the feedback on this from the community you work so hard to uphold has not been listened to.
LIke, make it opt-in at least.

This seems like such an unnecessary change? Why would a ticket Status randomly be underneath the ticket Summary/Title vs in the Details with the rest of the context fields?
Or at least provide us the option to decide where we would like for it to live :)
If you are scrolling through a ticket, you can't quickly reference it on the side panel, but have to scroll all the way back up to see it, as it gets hidden with a scroll right away.
And everything with the UI is being shifted heavy on the left side of tickets and product now. There's no balance. At least can we have an option to change it back. Whoever dislikes this change can change it back.

Yes, please put the field back to its original position. Me as Jira admin for 2750+ users instance it is hard to explain such a step back in UI convenience.

Please provide instructions for how to relocate the button to the top right.

Happens on our instance today as well. I vote for "make it configurable" if there is really someone requesting this position of that status button. For the majority of users this position seems to be not convenient.

I just had enough and spent some time creating a small userscript.
I share it here, in case it helps someone else: https://gist.github.com/msbence/3c87476c0ce3f1a0942d4c061e289a31
Ugly, and comes with no warranty, but hey, it works! :)

I want to second this. Either put it back were it was or make this configurable, please.
This change also creates a lot of wasted space above the details panel where a lone Automation button now lives. If the status button is not going to use up that empty space, the remaining Automation button should also be moved somewhere else. This is really painful to look at.

My suggestion would be to make it configurable - like many other field-positions. Otherwise, there will be always complaints.

I don't remember seeing this anywhere in the updates for the design! Is there a place to vote to return it or at least edit the location? The new place is not a great choice!

The same has happened in my Jira instance, however it seems to only be in my business projects, not software projects.
