Hello Community!
I am using Jira service desk server and was looking for a resolution on the following issue:
I was preparing few new workflows for one of our process and we need the transition and status names to be a little elaborate which is resulting in partial view of the status / transition. The entire name of the transition / status gets cut which is raising a lot of confusion among the non technical users / partners.
Is there a way with which we can adjust the UI?
I am attaching an example for reference.
Thanks in advance.
Pooja
You could start trying to amend the templates that draw up the screens, but this would leave you unsupported, and it's probably not as easy as you think it will be - as you start to make more space for your names, you'll find other things being pushed out by that, and you can quickly get your screens to be a complete mess.
The recommendation here is to simplify your language, shortening the status. In the example you've given, everyone involved probably knows it is a request already (even if the issue type has a different name) there is no need to tell them that again. "In validation" or "Needs validation" would be more than sufficient.
You will find you can do the same for a lot of other status and transition name.
I agree with @Nic Brough -Adaptavist-
The names are inbuilt into the UI. You can alternatively use the document https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-hide-elements-in-jira-using-css-or-javascript-958774526.html to hide the elements.

Thank you so much for the quick response @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- and @Bhanu
We have tried making the terms as short as possible but for some teams it needs a little more elaboration on the names.
But since we do not have much choice, we'll follow the suggested approach.
Thanks & Regards,
Pooja
