Status of task doesnt change with changing of subtask

Good day

I have a question and I hope you can help me. If we create a task in JIRA on a board with a number of subtasks and one of the subtasks changes in status (from to do to in progress), then the status of the main task remains the same, namely to do.

Is it possible that the status of the main task automatically changes to in progress. Or do people really have to do that by hand?

Hi John,

You can keep the parent and child in sync automatically using an Autmation for Jira rule.
