Status variants

Henrik Melvold January 6, 2014

I got a status called "On hold" in my workflow. But I would like to have some kind of sub-status like

"On hold" -> "Waiting on 3rd party"

"On hold" -> "More information required"

I know I can create separate statuses for these two, but I like to hold the number of statuses to a minimum. Is this possible "out of the box", or do I have to create new fields for this?

A status is a status, they don't have levels. As you suspect, you'll need to have two status or use a secondary field (which you should probably blank out as the issue leaves On-Hold)

Hi Henrik,

You could use the Resolution field for this, or even a custom field you create.

See here how to use workflow properties to define which resolutions are available during a certain transition (in your case the one leading into "On Hold") :

See here how to create custom fields (single select would be ideal for you):

Best regards,

Peter
