Stop running this script message appears when loading story map in IE (on versions 8-10)

When attempting to view a story map in IE the following error is displayed
Stop running this script? A script on the page is causing your web browser to run slowly.

Selecting Yes allows the page to viewed and it appears that the rest of the functionality is working as expected. So this is mainly just an annoyance, at least for those that are still using IE as the story map loads and functions properly in real browsers. Has anybody seen this behavior before or have ideas on how to stop this message from happening?

yes, the map is optimized for Chrome and Firefox. However, IE works as well with some small restrictions.
