Stop tasks from auto deleting

Mike Ritson August 25, 2020

Hi,

We need to keep our "done" tasks available if not visible on the Kaban boards.  Does the 14 day delete permanently delete the tasks from the system or are they moved somewhere?

Hello Mike,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

When tickets are moved to the very last column on a next-gen board, it will be hidden from after 14 days, but not deleted.

You can find the tickets that were archived by clicking on Issues on the left side and filtering by the "Done" status.

Currently, it's not possible to change that. For more details, please check our documentation:

Cards in the last column of your board are always categorized as done, meaning all work has been completed and the task has been carried out. If you’ve enabled the sprints feature, these issues won’t return to the backlog when you complete your sprint. If you don’t have the sprints feature enabled, these issues are automatically removed from the board after 14 days.

If you have any other questions regarding this matter, please let us know.

Regards,
Angélica

Hi, I'm having a hard time finding where issues that have been marked as done are archived(perhaps the UI has changed since then?). I'm not seeing the "Issues on the left side" tab that you mentioned.

Well I don’t you Jira Cloud but Jira Server. However closed issues do not get deleted at all (unless you have some automation plugin running). On you board click on the left menu bar the button called “issues”. Then you get you issues in a list view. On to of the list you can switch the filter to view closed issues. With some experience you can refine the filter to show issues with specific properties. Let you ideas go wild...
