Hi there! So, we are using the following hierarchy - Version -> Epic -> Feature -> User Story -> Subtasks...
We are using Jira "out of the box" at the moment... no plug ins or extras. Right now we are linking User Stories to Features since we don't have Structure to show our groupings. Is there a way to make the Story Points from the User Stories automatically roll up to the Features so we don't have to go in and add all those up and then put it in the Feature?
Thanks in advance! :)
Hi, @Laci I'm not aware of an easy way to do this without a Jira app. That does not mean it's not possible — just that I don't know an easy way ;)
That said, what about using the Jira APIs to do something external to Jira then write the results to a custom field in your Features? There's a story points example on this page.
ScriptRunner or PowerScripts might simplify this for you if you don't have extra developers lying around.
Of course, these approaches would require you to frequently update the custom field, or very cleverly detect changes to the story points in the children and update it then.
And, by the time you are done maybe it would have been easier to just add Structure? (Full disclosure, I work for the makers of Structure).
Hope this helps,
