Sub-tasks staying in status with main task?

Hi Jira Community!

I have a big of an odd question. We have a Kanban team who have a very large backlog that they wanted to keep in a separate board. We tried to solve this by creating a separate board that only displayed items with the "Backlog" type. There's a "Ready" column in the team's main Kanban board where issues they're ready to work on go. 

This morning, they discovered that sub-tasks for stories in their Ready column are automatically going to the separate backlog page instead of the Ready column.  Is there a way to have created sub-tasks stay in the same column as the main story?

Since it sounds like your boards are filtering based on status this is the correct behavior.  You would need to use a third party add-on like Script Runner or Power Scripts to automatically transition all sub-tasks to ready column when the parent is transitioned to that column.
