You should make sure that usernames in Crowd are the same as they will be in AD.
Also make sure you have all groups in the AD that you might have in Crowd.
Then you can connect the AD as new user directory and move it above the Crowd directory.
If everything works fine, you can disable the Crowd directory.
And, as always, try it in z Test System first.
