Sync Jira with Azure Dev Ops

Wendy Thorneloe

HI

What is the best app / way to link Jira to Azure Dev Ops. (We don't have Jira enterprise)

We want to link Jira to Azure Dev Ops so we don't need to duplicate tickets in both places.

What is the best way.

We have Jira Software Premium

Thanks

Wendy

Hi Wendy,

Personally I like the Exalate. It offers a lot of flexibility via it's scripting engine.

I do not have experience with other syncing plugins for Azure Devops but I'm sure there are others on the marketplace.

Something to keep in mind: with syncing plugins in general you need the plugin on both ends (Jira and Azure Devops). It often means having 2 licenses.

Hi @Wendy Thorneloe ,

Thanks for posting your question on the community.

I am Dhiren, one of the pre-sales engineers working at Exalate.

Exalate is the only decentralized bi-directional integration solution which allows you to integrate systems like Jira (Cloud/Server/DC) and Azure DevOps.

For business users it has a low-code(Visual) mode and for technical users it has a script mode (which iI call the god mode) because of the amount of customizations that are possible here.

It is flexible, scalable and with the scripting engine architecture you have the ability to choose what information you want to share with DevOps (from Jira) and vice-a-versa.

You can synchronize system fields and any custom fields as well.

Thanks, Dhiren

@Wendy Thorneloe hey there. Check out ZigiOps. It's 100% no-code, customizable, and secure (does not store any of the data transferred between the connected systems). Integrates and syncs bi-directionally, no duplications and you have full control over the data you want to sync. Feel free to drop us a line so we can show you how it works or try it yourself with out free trial version.

Regards, Diana (ZigiOps team)

Hi Wendy

OpsHub provides a free Community Edition that integrates work items bidirectionally with reliable and predictable outcomes. You can refer to Jira Integration with Azure DevOps documentation for the details on Azure DevOps and Jira integration.

In addition to being free, it provides rich data integration for comments, attachments, links, and inline content, including the following use cases:

  • Format retention: Azure DevOps uses HTML text formatting while Jira uses Wiki markup text formatting; OpsHub supports format transformation strategies between HTML text and Wiki markup text formats for the integrated data without having to add an HTML custom field in Jira.
  • Field-level conflict management: OpsHub supports Field-level conflict management for bidirectional integration.
  • Dynamic user mapping: When you integrate user fields like Assignee, Reporter, etc., if the username is not the same, OpsHub supports mapping the users dynamically, based on the user email id or display name, without mapping each user (one by one).
  • Data granularity: OpsHub supports data granularity (Intermediate state or End State only) required for integration for the use case. E.g., When the user modifies the status from Open -> In Progress -> Resolved in Jira, determine whether a transition with Intermediate state (Open -> In Progress -> Resolved) is required or a transition to end state (Open -> Resolved) is required for the use case.
  • Failure management & recovery: OpsHub integration has robust failure recovery mechanism that queues up failures for resolution even when an end system is unavailable/down for a while. In the failure recovery mechanism designed by OpsHub, failed events are processed automatically and could also be processed manually by administrators.
  • OpsHub Integration solution also supports Issue Movement feature.

Get started immediately by registering on the OpsHub community and downloading the free Community Edition. Feel free to contact OpsHub’s Integration Experts for an initial free consultation on integration planning.

Thanks,

Brad
