Task in sprint is always created in backlog

When creating a task in a specific sprint, it is still created in the backlog.

I was trying to create a task in sprint number 3. But the task was created in the backlog. How can I fix this problem?

Hello @John_Thomas welcome to the community. I'm not sure the steps you took but my guess is that with a Sprint started you created such task. The fact that it got created during the active Sprint doesn't mean that it's part of it. You must assign the Sprint value when creating it in order to be part of it. 

If my guess is wrong, please share some screenshots of the steps you took in order to better assist you
