Team PI Capacity Calculation

my team is part of ART with multiple other teams. Is there a feature available in Atlassian/JIRA where the tool automatically calculates PI capacity of the team in the upcoming PI?

First of all, I recommend analyzing JIRA Plans.

After that, I suggest trying the app I developed - Multi-team Metrics & Retrospective. Look at the Completed Scope metric.

Additionally, you will be able to:

• Track any custom metric constructed using JQL across any periods - sprints, months, quarters, half-years or years for multiple teams in a single view.
• Conduct in-place retrospectives
• Compare metrics between teams or periods
• Identify, quantify, and prioritize reasons behind mediocre performance, and easily justify budget allocation for improvements
• View dynamics between the current and previous periods
• View % of a metric relative to Initial or Final Scope. Average of metrics for the selected periods
• View average of metrics for the selected periods

• Generate retro reports for SAFe, LeSS, SoS, etc. teams to:

  • Compare groups of teams, e.g., Team 1 and Team 5 as one entity versus Team 3 and Team 4 as another.
  • Compare periods, e.g., 2024 vs 2023 for Team 1 and Team 5 combined.

I believe some things have changed around Jira Align since the last time I used it, but I'd recommend to explore it, specially if you're using a process similar to SAFe or scaled agile:

for a Team's PI Capacity calculation, following inputs are required which are captured manually in 1 or more Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence:

1. team members name/userid
2. organization's working and non working days
3. sprint duration and dates for upcoming PI
4. planning absenteeism for each team member in the duration of PI
5. UoM (unit of measure): in majority of cases, it is Story Point
