Team is disabled after removing Portfolio

We recently decided to not use Portfolio any longer, however, have really come to depend upon the TEAM assignment of stories, and are used heavily in our board filters.

Since disabling Portfolio, we've run into issues with TEAM no longer being usable.  Is there a way (or "how can I?") still use teams within JIRA, without having Portfolio?  And second question, how can I do this without losing the current team assignments?

It is obvious Team field got disable. since Team is a field that comes with portfolio. 

You have to create a custom field. I guess you just have to write a script to map values between team field and a custom field.
