Team-managed boards now have Unassigned avatar icon/filter?

One of my customer teams noticed today that their team-managed kanban board now has an Unassigned avatar next to the other users. Theirs is a private board, and the team lead was concerned if a non-team member had gained access.

I looked at another screenshot I'd taken a month ago, and the Unassigned avatar was not present then, so I'm assuming it's a recent change in my configuration or the software itself. 

If this is a configuration matter, could someone point me in the right direction?

Alternatively, if this is a software update, it would be great to understand if this is part of some large feature update. The roadmap blog did not have anything specifically obvious.

I'd be grateful for any information, even if it's something blatantly obvious :)

It does appear that at one time the option was not available and there was a change request for it.

There is an update on that ticket that says "January 2023" (but I think that's a typo because the Updated date is January 18) saying that last week an update was released to include the Unassigned filter.
