Test Plan Status Totals

LUIS MIGUEL DAZA MENDOZA October 7, 2025

I built a dashboard that shows all the test plans for a specific workspace. I have a table that has a column with the test count for each test plan and another one for the status. The thing its that I want to know how many tests of all those test plans are in each status (To do, Pass, Blocked, Discarded). Basically I want the sum per status. I tried several ways but theres no field for test plan status that I could pick in the statistic type drop down

Hi @LUIS MIGUEL DAZA MENDOZA,

What Jira plugin/app do you use for test management?

It look like the test plans are stored as issues in Jira. But how are the test cases stored and their execution results?

Hi @LUIS MIGUEL DAZA MENDOZA , thanks for your post.

There are two issues here. One is that the test data, inside of the testing tool you are using, whether that is Xray or Zephyr, is held inside of that application / plugin, and isn't accessible to write JQL queries or filters for it.

The second issue is that, related to this limitation about the testing app data, you are using another app in this dashboard of 'Rich Filters' (it seems). I would get in touch what that app / plugin provider https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1214789/rich-filters-for-jira-dashboards?hosting=cloud&tab=support  to see if they can help with this. I know, for example, with eazybi, you can access the app / plugin data of other apps to create this kind of report. I am not sure about Rich Filters. You can open them a ticket with exactly this request and see what they say / can do to help.

Best wishes

Hi,
Thank you, @Valerie Knapp, for mentioning eazyBI as a way to access Xray data.

@LUIS MIGUEL DAZA MENDOZA, if you have an eazyBI, you can create different reports that display Xray testing results, then you can embed this report on your Jira dashboard. The reports are interactive, and users can click on cells to see which test executions or tests are behind the numbers.

I believe the "Test Plan Status" is an Xray scripted field, and the details behind its value are not available. At least eazyBI cannot retrieve this field value on the Cloud either. But you can create similar analytics with the option to see details based on test run data.

For example, in the picture below is a Test Plan overview with details about test run results, test distribution by type, and registered defects. The user can drill through individual tests, test executions, or runs for each number.

Another example illustrating the execution of test distribution by type, based on environment and test plan. This type of chart is also interactive.

More details about available Xray data in eazyBI and how users can interact with the reports are described in the eazyBI documentation:

Hi @LUIS MIGUEL DAZA MENDOZA,

I looks like as if you are working with the Atlassian Marketplace Apps "Rich Filters for Jira Dashboards".

Unfortunately I am not so familiar with this app, but if you don't get any help here, this is how you can reach out to the vendor directly.
