Test instance of JIRA or any other atlassian product

Before upgrading any instance of my atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket etc) I would like to have it run in parallel with my operational instance. That way, selected, colleagues can check if everything still works as expected.

I use all the atlassian products in docker containers. To best check if everything works I would need to have a second instance running from a previous backup.

How does this work with licenses for the atlassian products.
