The gadget Filter results in a Dashboard does not pick up the sort order from the Filter?

I have a gadget Filter in a Dashboard and it is not picking up the sort order from the Filter.   Am I doing something wrong?  or is that the way it works?

How do you sort columns in a Gadget  Filter?   As a user?  not with any plugins.

I tried the gadget“ filter results ”, it can be sorted by JQL specified statement

What is your JQL?

I'm a user and I don't have any administrator access, I don't think I can apply plugins.
