I encountered the following problem. I developed a Workflow in a test environment, exported the Workflow to XML from the test environment, and then imported it into the production environment, and the Workflow designer displays the Workflow in a vertical orientation, which is absolutely inconvenient.
Here's what Workflow looks like before
And here's how after the import
How can I fix this behavior?
Jira Server ver. 9.4.3
Hi Alexey,
Yes, anytime a workflow gets imported - by whatever means, it loses the placement of what it looked like before and you have to drag the statuses back into place.
@John Funk , thanks for the response. It's very sad that this works in this way, to be honest, it sounds like an error.
Are you aware of any workarounds?

I am not aware of anything for Server/Data Center. The only thing I know of for Cloud is using an add-on called Revyz Configuration Manager for Jira (full transparency, I am an advisor for them). If you clone a project, you can clone the workflows to the new instance /project and it will keep the workflow positions.

The XML doesn't store any info on how the statuses were arranged in the Workflow view. Therefore they are arranged by a certain set of rules which you cannot change.
Have to tried to export the Workflow as "Workflow" rather than XML?

@Rebekka Heilmann _viadee_ , thanks for the provided response. But if I export Workflow as "Workflow", then I won't have saved configured Conditions, Validators, and Post functions.
This is a significant drawback.
