Tickets updated on Jira cloud (integrated with self-managed Gitlab)

Hi there.

We're on Jira cloud, and use self-managed Gitlab for our code repository. 

Currently if a JIRA ticket ID is mentioned in the commit message, we see this as a comment on the Jira ticket (and updates to the Development panel). This is great.

However, we would like to get to a position of being able to update the Jira ticket with some form of notification (a comment maybe?) when a deployment to an environment has happened relating to that ticket.

From what I've seen this seems to be possible with a Gitlab cloud to Jira cloud integration.

Can anyone advise on how to do this in the case of a Jira cloud to self-managed Gitlab set up? Hopefully this is enough information/background.
