Timeline and Advanced Roadmap setup issues

Louis Liew October 6, 2024

Hi, I am not able to create a timeline or advance roadmap in Jira with all user stories, tasks and sub-tasks linked from Feature and EPICs. Is this an access privilege issue or something else?

Hi @Louis Liew ,

If you can’t create a detailed roadmap with all stories, tasks, and sub-tasks linked from features and epics in Jira, here are some possible reasons:

1. You might need higher access, like a project admin, to manage roadmaps fully => Contact your Jira admin to check your permissions.

2. Advanced Roadmaps, which show detailed links and hierarchies, are only available on Jira Premium or Enterprise plans. Standard plans have limited roadmap features. => Verify your Jira plan by going to Settings > Billing > Plan Details. If you’re on a Free or Standard plan, consider upgrading to Premium to access Advanced Roadmaps

3. The roadmap settings may not include all issue types => If you have access to Advanced Roadmaps, go to Plans > Configure > Hierarchy Configuration and make sure all issue types (epics, features, stories, tasks, and sub-tasks) are included in the hierarchy. Adjust the settings as needed to display all issue levels.

4. Filters might be limiting which issues you can see => In the roadmap view, check your filters to ensure they include all issue types.

5. Ensure that tasks, sub-tasks, and stories are linked correctly to features and epics; otherwise, they won’t show up as connected => You can do this by opening each issue and checking the Linked Issues section. If links are missing, add them manually or update your workflow to ensure links are created automatically.

I hope this helps!
