Trace-ability solution needed

I have a project that has issue types of "Major Release", "Initiative", "Feature". 

• You can select Major Release using the major release issue picker field in both initiative and feature screens. 
• You can select feature using the related features issue picker field in both initiative and major release screens
• You can select initiatives using the related initiatives issue picker field in both release and feature screens. 

What I'm trying to do is when the release is selected at the initiative level and then the initiative is selected at the feature level, the feature will inherit the major release field automatically. 

When the feature is selected at the initiative level where the initiative has a major release issue defined, the major release is inherited at the feature level.

When an initiative is selected at the major release level, when the initiative has features already selected those features are inherited in the related features field in the major relase. 

Basically I'm looking for synchronized trace-ability across all issue types at any level. The trick is that the issues are selected from an issue picker drop down and need to populate automatically across all linked issue types.
