If you're using Xray for Test Management, it comes with a built-in Traceability report and that may be good enough for what you're trying to achieve.

Other test management tools have also similar reports.

You may also check the Impact for Jira plugin, which generate traceability reports (and not a 2D matrix with little checks per se). This can be very useful because it brings much better readability for the team members. This tool is very pragmatic. It's got an export to excel too so you can continue your flow with other tools as well.

We have a plugin which allows you to create, and link BDD (behaviour driven development) scenarios to user stories in Jira.  We've added a traceability matrix recently to our plugin which maps the user stories (or any issue) with the BDD scenarios.
