Tracking components across multiple projects

I would like define a set of 12 components, that can be tracked across multiple projects. In Jira  components are defined as a sub-sections of a project.

My student are using Jira for their projects.  I want to use Components to track the compentencies the individual students are using across different semester moduls.  Each semester modul is a Jira Project

Hi Johan,

you can add components with the same name in different projects. 

You can then query on the component name and get results of all projects.

Thank you Thomas. Would this result in cumulated results in a report. Like cumulated time of one component across 2-3 projects
