Is it possible to transition an issue to someone based upon a custom field value is?
Example:
Custom Field Value Area = Logistics
Role Created = Logistics
When it transitions i want it to assign it to the person assigned to the Role Logistics.
Is this possible?
Is it possible to create a List of names/roles that when it goes to assign to someone you can select from the list that has been already created rather than the entire user list?

Have you thought about using the Components field to represent your different roles e.g. Logistics as a component. Each component can have a lead and this person is the default assignee. In the workflow transition you can use a post-function to "Assign to Lead Developer" which will assign the issue to the user associated with that component.
