Transition issue to "In Review" when merge request made on a specific branch in Gitlab

We have transitions from "To Do" to "In Progress" when a branch is created from a Jira-linked issue and to "Done" when a merge is completed, but how do we transition to "In Review" when the merge request is made?  Would seem like a common thing to do, but merge request isnt listed as a trigger option.
