For a issueType Story, i have added On Hold which can be reached from All Status in the transition.

On Jira cloud, i want to implement (without using any plugin) a condition/post-function, so if the 1 story is put on hold, on the linked issues automatically transition to On Hold.

Is this possible?

If you are on Jira Software Server or Data Center, John is absolutely correct - this cannot be done without an Addon.  However, on Jira Cloud, you have access to Automation for Jira, which can do this well enough.  In fact, this App would be my recommendation on Server/DC as well.

  1. On your Project Settings, go to Apps -> Project automation, and click "Create Rule"
  2. On the trigger, click "Issue Transitioned," and set to "To status" to "On Hold".  Click "Save"
  3. Now add a Branch Rule.  ON "Type of related Issues", select "Linked Issues" (You will need to scroll down), and then select the appropriate link type. "Click Save"
  4. Now add a New Action, and under this select "Transition Issue".  Set the Destination Status to "On Hold".
  5. Drag the new action you just created under the Branch (As Shown below).
  6. Add a Name to your Rule and click "Turn it on"
  7. Click "Rule Details" at the top, and make sure the checkbox for "Check to allow other rule actions to trigger this rule. Only enable this if you need this rule to execute in response to another rule." is selected.  Then click "Save"

Hi Vishal - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Simply put, you will not be able to do that without an add-on.
