Triggering a Jira issue Comment input via transition automation

Our Jira Kanban workflow includes steps for putting an issue On Hold or posting it for Management Review. In each of these cases, I (as the Kanban Master/Project Manager) request the developer to enter a comment stating the reason for moving the issue to those status states.

However, this doesn't always happen. I would like to use transition automation to bring up the issue screen and not complete the transition until a comment has been entered.

Does automation provide a way to do this? This is for a Team-Managed project, but we are migrating to Company-Managed projects and will want to do the same thing in those projects.

Team Managed projects do not currently support presenting a screen during the status transition. That is only available for Company Managed projects.

With a Company Managed project the Workflow can be customized (by a Jira Administrator) to show a screen during the transition that includes any number of fields. The workflow can also include a Validator that indicates select fields must be filled in in order for the transition to be completed.

If the user tries to complete the transition without filling in the field, an error message displays.
