I have a field which is showing up as required, it is not actually a field in this version of the ticket. I went into Field Configurations and marked it optional, yet it still shows required.
@Matt , one possibility is : you can check whether there is a scriptrunner behaviour that is making the field required in the configuration.

I concur with Fazila that there is either a Behaviour involved and/or any App that is capable of providing this functionality.
In case you cannot get to the bottom of the case at all you could disable any Apps that could be responsible for the behaviour, one by one, and test after deactivating each if the problem persists.
Of course, this is only an option during non-office hours as it will impact users that involved the Apps you are going to disable temporarily - for example in their workflows, on dashboards or in integrations.
