Two instances with one DC license?

Hi all,

I ask in behalf of my customer.

Is it possible to run two instances under 1 DC license with two separate databases? So that each Instance has its database?

Any suggestions on who to separate data with one instance/license? We need to separate it because of compliance rules.

Hi @Astrid Sieben,

No, unfortunately not. Your DC license is associated to the product, which is identified by its Support Entitlement Number (or SEN). A license key only supports 1 production instance of your product.

Compliance rules can cover a lot of topics of course. If the rules specify you need a separate test environment in place where you can try things out before you go live, you can obtain a free developer license (see this support article for more information). If it is more about permissions and securing information, it might be a better idea to take a deep dive into how Jira Permissions work. If it is about backup and/or disaster recovery, you can better take a look at backup/restore procedures and so on.

Hope this helps!
