UNABLE TO ADD EPIC LINK ON JIRA STORY

I am unable to add an EPIC link to any Jira story and nobody knows what authority I am missing.  It was my story that I created

'YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO EDIT THIS EPIC, SO YOU CAN'T ASSIGN YOUR ISSUE TO IT.

Hi @Roberta Patterson and welcome to the Community,

• is the Epic in the same project as the Story?
• Are you working with issue Level security?
• Does the Workflow prohibit Edits in a specific status?
• Can other users with the same project role edit the Epic?

If you are the Jira Admin - or have access to a person that is... there is a feature called "Permission helper" in the Administration where you can check permissions for a user for a specific issue. That can point to any missing permissions or other restrictions.
