I am unable to add a parent link to an issue when the parent is in the same project as the child. For example, I have the Initiative issue PPT-3412 as the parent, and Epic issue PPT-4928 as the child set up in Advanced Roadmaps.
If I remove the Initiative from the Parent Link field and then try to select another issue from the same project I am unable to find any. I can, however, find issues from other projects.
Can someone help determine if this is a bug or if I am missing a setting?
Thanks,
Scott
Hi @Scott Theus
Sometimes, when using the "Parent Link" field in the Issue view, you have to enter the specific Issue Key. It doesn't always search based on a partial key, etc.
Have you tried entering the Initiative's exact Key into the Parent Link field, to see if it works?

That worked, Stephen, thanks! Is this a bug?

Hi @Scott Theus
I think it's actually how it works - you can search by a specific Issue Key, or you should also be able to search using words (eg. the Parent's Summary)
You can vote for/watch the feature request though, if you think it's something that should be enhanced - see: JSWCLOUD-21681

I have a similar problem, but it does not seem to matter what I put in the Parent Link box, Jira cannot find the parent. If I put the full Epic ID, the full summary or the Epic ID and summary, I still get 'no matches found', even though I have the epic open in another tab to copy all that information from.
The task was in a different project, so I moved it to the same one, but still no match
I have had this a couple of times since 'Epic Link' was replaced with 'Parent Link'.
