I created a custom workflow for my team; we are on Jira Cloud.

We have a Ready for Test Column and an In Review column in our workflow.

I would like to have the jira issue auto-assign to the user that pulls the ticket into the In Review column from the Ready for Test column.

On the transition, I set up the following:

Conditions

  • Only users in any of *insert every group at my company here* group can execute this transition.

Post Function

  1. Assign the issue to the current user. Please note that the issue will only be assigned to the current user if the current user has the 'Assignable User' permission.

I have published this change, but when I pull a ticket to In Review, the trigger does not prompt the post function.

I greatly appreciate any guidance on resolving this.

Hello Jack,

Welcome to Atlassian community.

Although I believe you have already checked the basics by the details you provided, please double-check the following details:

- Have you published your workflow once the post-function was properly configured?

- Are you able to manually assign the issue to the user when transitioning the issue? Try to add a screen to the transition with the assignee field and check if you are able to manually assign it.

- Double-check if the user is properly added to the groups you described in your condition

- Have you tried to temporary remove the Condition and check if the post-function works?

Most relevant question: I notice you mentioned "columns" and not "Statuses". This makes me believe the user is dragging and dropping the issues on the board instead of changing its status. Is that a correct statement?

As post functions are related to Statuses, could you please double-check if the correct status is mapped to the board column and the user is transitioning the issues to the right status?

Let me know if this information helps.

Hi!

Thank you very much for the detailed steps.    I added a transition screen and now everything works.  That appears to have been my missing piece.

Thank you very much for the help, my team loves this functionality!
