I have a custom field called "App. Type" that appears properly in screens and is configured fine, but users cannot search issues by it using a filter.
The Configure Custom Field: App. Type scheme is set to global (all issues)
In the Edit Custom Field Details, the Search Template is set to Multi Select Searcher
In which type of project are the issues located that have this field?
- Team Managed or Company Managed
- Business, Software, or Service
In which screen are the users trying to use the field? There is the Advanced Issue Search screen accessed from the Filters menu, but there are also other places where searches and filtering may be used.
What exactly is the user doing in their attempt to use the field for searching? What are they typing in/selecting? What are they seeing? Can you provide screen images?
It's a company managed project in Jira Software. In the project, the users go to Issues and try to apply a filter by selecting "More" but the drop down menu doesn't have the custom field.

Does the field appear for you if you take the same actions?
Has the user tried typing in the name of the field in the "Search" field at the top of that drop-down?
Can you (or the user) switch from the Basic search options currently being used to the JQL option for searching and enter the JQL for the search including the custom field?

Ah, I think I understand now. Was the user clicking on the Issues option in the navigation pane on the left? When that option is used to access the issues list, the search options are limited.
Using the Filters > Advanced Issue Search option gives access to all the fields when More is clicked.
