Unlink a task from a story

I need to keep both the story and the task I just accidently linked two of the wrong ones together. Is there a way to un-link them and keep both or do I need to delete my task and add it again afterwards?

You can unlink and keep both without any problems.

1. Go to an issue that contains links and locate the Issue Links section.
2. Hover over the link you want to delete and click the Delete icon that appears.

If you didn't linked the issues using this resource, can you share a screen to see what type of link you've applied?
