Unmapped status' appearing in the ticket status drop down

Created a new workflow that has many status' that i currently don't need, but they have been created for future usage.

When i use x status and then remove the status and the column it was sitting in, the next time i use the board, the removed status still appears in the Story drop down status, if i click the removed status, the ticket disappears from the board.

How do i stop unmapped status' appearing in the ticket status drop down?

Hey Phil,

Make sure that you don't have the ability to transition to the status on your workflows.

Just because a status isn't mapped to a board does not stop the issue from moving to that status.

Alternatively you could copy your current workflow and split it into a v1 and v2 of the workflow.

Use the v1 without the extra statuses for now and then migrate to v2 when you are ready.

Have you tried to update your filter for the specific board? 

Example: project = ProjectName AND status != Done

something like that?

@Coley Anderson, thanks for your suggestion, but i am not sure what i would update the project filter to? For example, i have removed several now unused status' from the board, as well as their old Columns, but the drop down in the story still shows the status, which means it's still active. I need the old status' not to continue appearing in the drop down but i do not want to alter the workflow of the board as it is used by other boards who still use said status'.
