Upgrade to 8.8

Hi

With my licence i can upgrad mmy jira softwar from 8.1.0 to 8.8.1  

How can do that without lost my data

Hi @mamraoui

You can directly upgrade your Jira 8.1 do 8.8.1 without any loosing your data or setup.

What you shall remember is:

• Create backup of your Jira database and JIRA_HOME directory (usually /var/atlassian/application-data/jira/)
• Execute Jira Upgrade Check on your "Manage apps" page to see if all plugins you have installed are compatible with Jira 8.8.1
• Check if your database version is supported by Jira 8.8 (eg. when you have PostgreSQL 9.5 you must upgrade your database first)
• Backup modified files shown by upgrade wizard (usually: cacerts, setenv.sh and server.xml for linux servers)

From my experience entire process shall take 15-30 minutes if you have all necessary admin skills and permissions.

According to the upgrade process, I have to run an installer and follow the classic installation steps as if it is the first time. Do I have to specify the path where the old version is installed or install it in another path different from the old one.

Please use existing path for old version. Your installation directory will be backed up automatically.

You can upgrade to any version of Jira released before the end of your licence.

If you use the standard upgrade docs, you will not lose any Jira data.  But you should check the release and upgrade notes for all the apps you have added as well.
