Hi, I need to upgrade our JIRA from 7.2.1 to the latest one 7.10.0. For that I can download the JIRA Core 7.10.0 executable file. The question is - is this file to be executed ON the server, hvere the JIRA is installed or can I execute the file from my laptop and 'point' to the server and update JIRA Core that way? Regards Claus
You will need to update Jira Core on the server first, before the software plugin/application can be updated.
You could update Jira Core first, by running that executable on the server itself. (exe for windows, or bin for linux) After which point you could then update the Jira Software plugin that corresponds to that version of Core. In this scenario, the update to Software can be done in the Jira web gui after core has been updated.
Alternatively, you could do both upgrades (Core and Software) at once if you use the Jira Software installation package found at https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/download This installation packages includes both Core and Software updated versions. I'd recommend this one to save you time and potential headaches.
I would recommend reviewing the guide on Upgrading Jira Applications for an understanding of the different ways you can upgrade Jira.
You have to install JIRA core from the server. You can only upload applications from the browser
