Upload built-in avatars to Jira

I have searched google, but can not find how to expand built-in avatar collection in jira. I mean I wish to upload some png files, which are supposed to be selectable from default avatar screen.

Is it possible? To extend default built-in jira avatar collection which is shown below.

i found the following that might be helpful. it is a rather old work around though. Check the comments in this issue - JRASERVER-21184. not that the suggestion itself was declined.

Thanks. I have already seen it, but didnt notice this big comment, which is a not okay solution, but in case of unsupported feature it is really helpfull.
