Upon logging effort, the burndown chart does not reflect it

K C Siddharth November 13, 2023

We use days to estimate every ticket in a sprint. If a ticket has an estimate of 2 days, If the developer logs 1 day, I would like to see the sprint burn down chart to reflect the effort. How can this be made possible?

Hello @K C Siddharth

Are you working with a Team Managed project or a Company Managed project?

What have you selected for your Estimation statistic for the board?

In the Estimation setting do you have the Time tracking option selected?

Hi @Trudy Claspill ,

I work on a team managed project.

I use time as an estimation right now and not story points. Although we are planning to move to story points.

When Time is your metric, the burndown chart is only able to show the Original Estimate time. The Original Estimate value does not itself change as you log work against an issue, so there is no change to show in that value on the chart.

Logging Work only updates the Remaining Time Estimate. The burndown chart is not capable of showing the Remaining Time Estimate currently, so it can't show the change in that value as you log work.

With a Team Managed project the Sprint Burndown shows the burndown only when the issue is moved to the column farthest to the right on your board.

Thanks @Trudy Claspill . This is quite helpful. Will make changes accordingly to reflect progress.
