Hi @Chetan Khanna ☺️, If you're open to using a third-party app for your cloud instance, I think Templating.app could be a good solution for you.

  • You can easily create description templates for or stories or issues.

You can find us at the Atlassian Marketplace ➡️ https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1224664

This is how this might look like:

Hello @Chetan Khanna

What type of project does this concern? You can get the project Type information from the View All Projects page or by clicking the ... button next to the project name in the panel on the left.

If you are working with a Team Managed project, you can set default text in the Description field through Project Settings > Work Types. Select the work type you want to apply this to, and then fill in default text for the Description field.

If you are working with a Company Managed project setting default text for the native Description field is not possible. There is a work around that involves

  1. creating a custom field,
  2. setting default text for the custom field,
  3. adding the custom field to Create screen for the item type
  4. removing the native Description field from the Create screen for the item type
  5. ensuring the Description field, not the custom field, is on the View and Edit screens for the item type.
  6. using Automation Rule to copy the text from the custom field to the native field when a new issue is created.
