Users cannot create subtasks

Dale Fraser November 18, 2011

Since upgrading from 4.2.x to 4.4.3 users can't create sub tasks

They see the + when clicking this nothing happens. As an administrator it still works

I figured it must be a change with permissions or issue types etc but after attempting to resolve it and googled around had no luck.

I don't recall any changes like that between 4.2 and 4.4.

Do you see any traces of a problem in JIRA log file? (best check both atlassian-jira.log and catalina.out).

Also has your upgrade process finished without any errors?

Also it's advisible to fully refresh the web browser as it may still remember old resources (especially CSS and javascript files) for your old JIRA installation (if the new one runs on the same URL).

I believe it was just a cache issue

I dont understand what's controlling subtasks. Sometimes there are no + or subtask section

Sometimes there is a +

Sometimes there is neither

There must be a project specific setting or something that controls this, but previously we alway say subtasks.

As logn as they see the '+', they have the permissions. Maybe it is the browser they are using? Is it a supported browser? If so, check the logs as Wojciech suggested!
